Here's an Earth Day stat that may shock you--suburban dwellers leave a 30 percent larger carbon footprint that urban dwellers. Why? Because suburbanites, particularly, buy so much more stuff for oversized homes, vehicles and yards. Then they don't repurpose and reuse it when it wears out. We have so much stuff we have to dig holes in the ground to bury it when we don't need it. Take used clothing--landfills overflow with used clothing that was tossed out. Here are ways to teach special needs kids about recycling, on Earth Day, with easy recycled crafts to repurpose and reuse used clothing, fabric scraps,old bedding, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, towels and rags.
